My day as a Scenic Artist.

We got given the budget for our Tableau today. I think it’s around £700 altogether but Scenic Art have been allocated £100 of it because tbh, we’ve got most of the paints we need anyway.

When asked who wanted to be budget collector out of the four of us, I ducked my head so far below the table I swear my butt was sticking up. I do not need the stress of that coupled with work coupled with school coupled with my housemates. Poor Megan reluctantly put her hand up when me and Natalie bailed out of it. Sorry Meg!

It’s gonna be pretty stressful, made even more so by the fact that my tutor is actually really passionate about the course and gives a damn about what we do (horrible to say this, but it’s rare). I reckon because there’s only four of us on the course strand, it’s a lot more personal which is brilliant on a one-to-one basis but horrible for trying to sneak outta class. ;) Not that I ever want to but y’know. She notices EVERYTHING. She never does the angry thing either, she’s always disappointed and we all know that’s worse. A LOT WORSE.
(She’s also got the added bonus of being in full view of George Lambs house out of her office window.)

It’s really nerve wracking. We have to show the designer (the one who interviewed me) our research so he can pick out what he likes and doesn’t like. WHAT IF HE DOESN’T LIKE ANYTHING? Then panic will set in, I’ll go red and my life will end there. Okay, bit dramatic, but you get the idea.

By the way, all this rambling probably doesn’t make any sense to you because I haven’t explained what we’re doing. We have to build a small 1843 dining room set (tableau) which is centered mostly at Christmas time. Scenic Artists have been allocated to paint the window frame complete with panel painting and texture, to paint the backcloth to the window, to paint a picture on the wall and to create the floor for another tableau.
