My friend came down to London for the weekend and today were going to see both The Lion King and Legally Blonde on the West End! What an amazing day.

Were currently sitting in our seats with the most perfect view, there’s loads of kids sitting in front of us and because they’re all pretty small we’ve got such a clear view.

HAPPY.

Matilda The Musical
After hearing good things from some of my friends, me and my mate decided to go and see this tonight. Through some lucky chance, we managed to get front row seats for £12.50 each which were BLOODY GOOD; I was so close I could rest my program on the stage, so close I got spat on by Mr Wormwood. ;)
As a Scenic Artist in progress, this was wicked to see. Because I was so close, I was analyzing how everything had been made, how the stage was made of plywood, the wood techniques for the blocks, etc.
Anyway, I’m gonna summarize my ‘review’ in to bullet points because I’m terrible at writing everything down in a paragraph. All in all though, this is the best west end show on. If you know me, that’s a strange thing for me to say because Wicked has always been my favourite but I think even this overrides it.
The set is beautiful, the way the actors interact with it is amazing, especially the swing scene. It’s colourful and childish but so technical and clever.
The scene where Amanda gets swung around by her pigtails - AHHH. It actually happens - brilliant!
The actors were VERY well cast. Matilda had a beautiful voice and she was really pure and innocent. Miss Honey was sweet and Mrs Trunchbull (played by a guy) was fucking brilliant. He spat like nothing on earth, luckily missing me but he was so intimidating and so funny.
I laughed like crazy and at a few points even had tears in my eyes, both from sadness and amazement.
The cast was mostly made up of the classroom of kids and watching them up close - it’s shocking how talented they are. They didn’t put a foot wrong and they were so confident, and there was one little Japanese boy who was the sweetest little thing ever.
I just can’t get over this show. I NEED to go again. And so do you!
